Cleon Gifford Crum, 89, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Gasconade Manor in Owensville, MO.
Cleon was born October 9, 1926 in Vienna, MO, a son to the late Lee and Margaret (Doyle) Crum. Cleon was united in marriage on February 14, 1948 to Mary Louise Terrill in Jefferson City, MO. Cleon was a talented and multifaceted individual with a variety of many unique and varied careers throughout his life. He worked in Vienna as an MFA Insurance Agent, MFA Meat Packing Plant in Vienna, and Tom Coffee General Store in Vienna. He was the owner of the Vienna Theater and Radio Shop, and retiredf in 1988 as Chief Engineer of KRCG-TV. He also worked for ESN Missouri Broadcasting and worked with many famous TV stars and presidents of the United States. He did consulting for Lee Mace. He served his country in the Navy during World War II on USS PC 1175 Ship which was a sub chaser. He was patrol escort for USS Vandalia 1175 in Japan and Guam. He received a Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Vienna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Mary Louise (Terrill) Crum in 2010, and his daughter; Linda Kay (Crum) Hemmelgarn in 1998, two brothers; Walter and Jessie Crum, and three sisters; Bertha Stacup, Myrtle Honse, and Jewel Finn.
He is survived by special caregivers, his nephew and wife; Bill and Linda Honse of Owensville, and adopted as his own grandchildren; Hunter Faye Honse, Taylor Paige Honse, Logan Nicole Honse, Jeff Honse, Shelly Honse, James Honse, and Dana Honse, and dear friends; Dan and Karen Yeager and Milt and Joyce Hoskins, and many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Vienna Public Cemetery in Vienna with Rev. Nick Geisert officiating.
