Charles Edward Barnes, 95, of Morrison, Missouri, formerly of Union, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Frene Valley - Stonebridge in Owensville.

Charles was born in Sweet Springs on November 27, 1921, to the late John and Bessy (Clark) Barnes. On July 15, 1945, in Marshall he was united in marriage to Mildred Owens. He had served his country with the United States Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat in Germany. He and Mildred lived in Union then after retirement in 1987 they moved to Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Barnes; and sisters, Thelma Stevens and Vergie Parsley.

His survivors include his wife, Mildred of the home; grandchildren, Ian Barnes and wife Lori of Morrison, Cathy Harnett of Wisconsin and Beverly Barnes of California; great-grandson, Dylan Barnes and wife Sandra of Frankenstein; and great, great-granddaughter, Samirah Barnes.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville.

Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel with Pastor Glenn Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Rosebud Methodist Cemetery in Rosebud.
