Margaret F. Frees passed away peacefully at Missouri Baptist Hospital Sullivan, on August 30, 2017, at the age of 89.
Margaret was born on September 9, 1927, in Brooksville, Miss. to the late Marion and Lucy Hines. She was raised in Brooksville, and that is where she met her husband, who was from Redbud, Ill., but was in Miss.helping on his familys farm. On July 2, 1945, she was united in marriage to Rodney A. Frees, and they settled in Owensville (Jake Prairie), to raise their three sons and daughter on their farm. They had a dairy farm early in their marriage. Later they raised crops, hogs, and cattle. She was a very good cook, with fried chicken and mashed potatoes being her specialty. She was also an excellent seamstress, making and mending many of her familys clothes.
Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, and piecing beautiful quilt tops together to give away to her family. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She also enjoyed visiting with her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in -law Rita Frees, and brothers S.J. Jiggs" Hines, John Hines, and Larry Hines.
She is survived by her sons, Rod E. Frees (Pat) of Cuba, Mike Frees of Cuba, Marion Frees(Jeanette) of Owensville, daughter Eva Galbraith (Max) of Roseville,Ill., sister Mildred King of Brooksville, Miss., two grandchildren Jenny Young (Rich) of Stanton, Julie Doyle (Shannon) of Owensville, great grandchildren Ryan, Morgan, Manny, and Adam, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
There will be a private family service at a later date with burial at Licklider Cemetery.
