Evelyn Nora Nicks of Bland, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Frene Valley of Owensville a Stonebridge Community. Evelyn had reached the age of 100 years, eight months, and 13 days.
Evelyn was born in Stradford, Kansas on January 8, 1917 a daughter to William and Nora (Meyer) Ruffner. She was united in marriage to Alfred Lee Nicks on March 26, 1942 at Savannah, Georgia. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's UCC at Cooper Hill in which she faithfully played the church organ for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nora Ruffner; her husband, Lee Nicks; one grandson, Walker Nicks; one brother, William Ruffner; one sister Evonelle Spears, and an infant daughter.
Her survivors include her children, Walker Nicks and wife Susan of Owensville, Wayne Nicks and wife Katie of Oakton, Virginia, and Wanda Nicks of Houston, Texas; one brother, Roy Ruffner and wife Shirley of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jordan Samuels and wife Chantal, Lauren Samuels and fiance David Harris, Melissa Sherman and husband Jason, and Nora Calkins and husband Nathan; and eight great-grandchildren, Annalise Sherman, Katherine Sherman, Julia Sherman, Bridget Sherman, Lucy Sherman, Lainey Calkins, Evonelle Calkins, and Maggie Calkins.
A graveside service and burial will be held Saturday, September 23, at 1:30 PM at the Owensville City Cemetery in Owensville with Rev. Van Lahmeyer officiating.
