Benny Elmer Carwile of Owensville departed this life on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran Home in St. James, MO. He had reached the age of 85 years, four months, and 17 days.

Benny was born on May 31, 1932 in Cooper Hill, MO a son of Frank and Cora (Branson) Carwile. Benny married Shirley E. Crain September 25, 1954 at Bourbon, MO. They enjoyed 54 years together before her death in 2009.

Benny worked at Brown Shoe Company in Owensville and Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, MO. He retired from Chrysler in 1989. He worked for a short time for the Gasconade County R-2 Schools before becoming “really” retired. Benny loved hunting with his beagle hounds, fishing, riding horses and camping with family and friends. Benny proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Benny was a member of the American Legion and the New Salem Baptist Church.

Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Frank and Cora Carwile; his brothers, Earl Carwile, Beryl Carwile, and Floyd Carwile; his sisters, Wilma Mistler, and Winifred Morgan and his two sisters who died in childhood, Eva May and Dorsey; his mother and father-in-law, Fay and Wilson Burns; and father-in-law, Frank Crain and brother-in-law, Dennis Burns.

Benny is survived by two children; Brad Carwile and wife Deborah of Washington, MO and Janeen Orlet and husband Jim of St. Charles, MO and three grandchildren; Greg Carwile of Owensville, Sara Orlet of Springfield, MO and Ben Orlet of St. Charles, MO; a brother, Stanley Carwile and wife Ruth of Owensville; a sister, Verlee Ellis and husband Sonny of Owensville; sisters-in-law Judith Roop and husband Franklin of Lebanon, MO and Nadine Carwile of Owensville and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville with Rev. Terry Knight officiating. Burial will be at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
