Obituary
Hazel Myrl Dority of Owensville departed this life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James. He had reached the age of 91 years, four months, and 27 days.

Hazel Myrl Dority was born on July 19, 1926 in Crittenden, MO a son of the late Samuel and Etta Mae (Rayl) Dority. He was married to Pearl (LaVern) Braden on August 23, 1946 at Marshall, MO. Hazel (Myrl) served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as Seaman Second Class. He earned an American Area Medal, a Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. After serving in the military, he became a supervisor for Banquet Foods until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and he was known for his passion of collecting “decorative roosters”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Dority and Etta Mae (Rayl) Dority, a son, Curtis Earl Dority; seven brothers, William, Floyd, Noel, Earl, Jessie, Lloyd, and Wilbert Dority; four sisters, Flossie Dority, Grace Fern Braden, Neva Long, and Adeline Dority.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl (LaVern) Dority; one son, Pastor Leslie Dority and wife Wanda of Owensville, one sister, Stella Wright of Marshall, MO; three granddaughters, Christine Mcdonald and husband Matt, Heather Mincks and husband Steve, and Stephanie Dority and four great-grandchildren, Kayden Mincks, Abigail Mcdonald, Aidan Mcdonald,and Hailey Mincks.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 19 at 11 AM at Gottenstroeter Funeral in Owensville with Pastor Larry Harris officiating. Burial will be at Stover Cemetery in Stover, MO. Visitation precedes the funeral on Tuesday, December 19 from 9 to 11 AM.
