Dorothy Rosalie Ehlert of Owensville passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville. She had reached the age of 93 years and 21 days.
Dorothy was born in Stony Hill on June 21, 1923, to the late Clarence and Esther (Bade) Alberswerth. On June 29, 1943, in Rosebud she was united in marriage to Carl J. Ehlert. She graduated from New Haven High School; worked for Gasconade County Health Dept. during World War II; worked as a nanny in St. Louis; worked at Rosebud Post Office for nearly 20 years, where she was Assistant Post Mistress. She was a member of Rosebud Methodist Church and Legion Auxiliary. She was a leader for Methodist Youth Group; volunteered with the Crop Walk, the 4-H, and the Owensville Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking for farm hands.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; sister, Luverne Traub; grandson, Grahame Lake; son-in-law, Tom Wisch.
Her survivors include her children, Mark Ehlert of Rosebud, Denise Brady of Columbia, Virginia (Jane) Wisch of Russellville, and Nancy Vahedian and husband, Paul of Fairfax, Virginia; grandchildren, Tony Vahedian and wife, Halle, Jennifer Vahedian and fiance, Dominic Perricone, John Vahedian and wife, Jess, and Jessie McNairy; and five great-grandchildren.
