James Joseph Gauzy, 85, of Gerald, Mo. passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.
James was born in St. Louis on June 1, 1932, to Joseph and Bertha (Tayloe) Gauzy. On June 23, 1951, at Holy Family Church in Port Hudson he was united in marriage to Eileen J. Raaf. He was a member of St. Gerald Catholic Church in Gerald. He enjoyed farming and trading used cars and farm equipment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Gauzy; wife, Eileen Gauzy; son, William Gauzy; brother, Wilbert Gauzy; sister, Irene Dunn; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
His survivors include his daughter-in-law, Anita Gauzy of Washington; grandchildren, Sara Grither and husband Scott of St. Mary, Mo. and Devin Gauzy and wife Kyungsun of Daegu, South Korea; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lexie Grither and Avin Gauzy; brother, Jerome Gauzy and wife Dorothy of Sullivan; sister, Thelma Hornaday of Springfield; and sister-in-law, Wanda Gauzy of Gerald.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerald's Catholic Church in Gerald with Fr. Jim Foster officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Port Hudson.
