Georgia Elizabeth (Kinkead) Lahmeyer of Bland, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at her home on the family farm. She had reached the age of 94 years, 9 months and 28 days.

Georgia was born in Farmington, Missouri on June 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Edson Elgin Kinkead and Emma Ada Hawn Kinkead. Georgia was a graduate of Fredericktown High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1946. While at Mizzou, Georgia was a member of Pi Delta Nu, as well as Phi Upsilon Omicron, an honorary Home Economics Society. On February 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to John A. Lahmeyer, Jr. in Farmington, Missouri. John preceded her in death in 2003.
Georgia taught high school home economics for a number of years in Appleton City and Bland, Missouri, as well as at Owensville High School. She was an integral part of the family farm and a faithful member of the St. Paul’s UCC – Cooper Hill. Georgia was known for her candor, good humor, service to the community and strong work ethic.
Georgia is survived by three daughters Emma Lee Lahmeyer (Connie Presley) of Keokuk, IA Susan K Lahmeyer (Tony Mitchell) of Sarasota, FL, and Margaret R. Kawaoka (Keith Kawaoka) of Petaluma, CA and two sons Thomas J. Lahmeyer (Dr. Cathy Lahmeyer) and Rev. Van Lahmeyer (Juliet Lahmeyer) of Owensville, MO She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Eric Kawaoka (Jessica Kawaoka), Katie Kawaoka, Sean Cotner (Liz Cotner), Joseph Lahmeyer (Hannah Lahmeyer), Maggie Lahmeyer, Fiona Lahmeyer, and Michael Lahmeyer. She is also fondly remembered by her honorary son, Kendall Hackman and honorary grandson, Peter Hansen. Georgia is survived by five great-grandchildren, Dylan Cotner, Annalise Lahmeyer, Norah Lahmeyer, Caleb Lahmeyer and Eliahna Kawaoka.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19 from 4 – 8 PM at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s UCC at Cooper Hill with Rev. Van Lahmeyer officiating.
