Ramona Katherine Schaeperkoetter, 95, of Owensville, formerly of Mt. Sterling, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Victorian Place of Owensville.

She was born October 25, 1922, to George and Melba (Lichte) Koenig in Bland, MO.

Ramona graduated from Bland High School and attended one year of business school. She was employed at the rationing office in Owensville where she met Ivan Schaeperkoetter. Soon after, they were married in Los Angeles, CA, on October 13, 1945. They were happily married for 69 years.

She was an active member of Zion St. Paul United Church of Christ and served on the Bay American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed playing pinochle, traveling, feeding and watching humming birds, reading, and spending Saturday nights dancing to the big band sounds.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She took great pride in her family and attended many athletic events and activities throughout the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Mona Tyrl and husband Larry of Kansas City and Marcia Bossaller and husband Rodney of Owensville; grandchildren Aaron Bossaller of Rosebud, Kim Taylor and husband Ryan of Pleasant View, TN and Zach Tyrl and wife Alyssa of Olathe, KS; great-grandchildren Paige and Charlea Bossaller of Owensville and Jay and Ty Taylor of Pleasant View, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Melba Koenig, husband Ivan Schaeperkoetter, sisters Maureen Smith and Arlene Swesey, and brother Gordon “Jack” Koenig.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville from 5-8pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 6, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville at 11am with Rev. Stephanie DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Bland Union Cemetery at Bland.
