Nora Albertina Kottwitz, 94, of Owensville, Mo., passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

She was born on April 26, 1924, to Fritz and Clara (Danuser) Schneider at Cooper Hill.
She was united in marriage on June 21, 1947, to Vernon Kottwitz at Gerald.  He preceded her in death on May 3, 2013.
Nora was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Church at Cooper Hill.  She attended and received her Eighth-Grade diploma from Success School.  She walked three miles to and from school and did not miss one day of school during those 8 years.  Nora was no stranger to hard-work and determination.
Nora began her employed years at CARMO Shoe Factory in Union before moving to East Moline, Ill., to accept a position with John Deere Harvester.  She married Vernon and accepted a position at Carter Carburetor in St. Louis six months after Vernon.  Nora and Vernon both worked for Carter Carburetor retiring May 1, 1981.
She loved the outdoors.  In her early years you could find her and Vernon camping and fishing.  Saturday nights you would find Nora and Vernon dancing at the VFW Hall in Owensville.
Nora had many talents.  She was blessed with a green thumb; raising a garden of vegetables and flower beds with beautiful roses.  She was an efficient seamstress and immaculate quilter.  She made many quilts during her lifetime and quilted them with the tiniest of stitches.  Anyone who visited her home was treated with the delicious home baked goods that she prepared from cookies, chocolate cakes and cream puffs to her home-made peanut brittle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Clara Schneider; brothers, August, Arthur, Alvin, Arvel Schneider and Alfred in infancy; sisters, Lydia Gerloff, Sophia Durbin, Fern Kottwitz; and triplets Eva, Neva and Reva in infancy.
Those left to mourn her passing include sister-in-law’s Marie Schneider, Frances Jost, and Sandy Pointer with husband Harry of Owensville and brother-in-law Chester Kottwitz of Jefferson City, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16 from 9-11 a.m. with Funeral Services at 11:00am at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville with Rev. Bob Dodson and Rev. Jerry Skaggs officiating.  Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens, Owensville.
