Obituary
John R. Burlison, 94, of DeSoto, MO, formerly of Owensville, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto, MO.

He was born in St. Louis, MO on December 31, 1924 a son of the late McClellan and Julia (Ritzman) Burlison.

He was united in marriage on June 12, 1948 to Mary Louise Argent in Overland, MO.

He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 414, a member of Owensville Masonic Lodge #624, a Lifetime member of Telephone Pioneer of America, and a Life member of the C.W.A. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Fireman, First Class. He fought in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign during W.W.II. and received a Victory Medal of Honor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Burlison on March 5, 2019; one daughter, Barbara Caldwell; one brother, Robert Burlison, and one sister; Doris Jean Reeder.

He is survived by two sons, John David Burlison of Festus, MO and James Burlison of St. Clair, MO; one daughter, Beverly Yates and husband Larry of DeSoto; one sister-in-law, Betsy Kelleher of Cuba, MO; five grandchildren, Ericka Gulden of St. Louis, Jaime Burlison of Florissant, Shanna Murdoch of Ste. Genevieve, Jacob Murdoch and wife Maegan of Onamia, MN, and Mary Yates and fiance' Nick Robinson of Hillsboro, and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville 1 to 5 PM. with an Eastern Star Service at 4:45 PM.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 25, 2019 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville at 11 AM with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. He will be buried with full military honors at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.

Memorials may be given to the Order of Eastern Star.
