Richard Jerome Becker departed this life on Monday, June 17, 2019 at his residence in Gerald, Missouri. He had reached the age of 87 years and four months.
He was born in St. Helena, Nebraska on February 17, 1932 a son of Bruno and Bernice (Schaller) Becker.
He was united in marriage on February 11, 1961 in California to Velta Holden.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Gerald Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked as an electrical engineer in aircraft manufacturing. Richard enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Bernice Becker; his wife, Velta; his daughter, Lorna Becker; his son, Timothy Becker; a sister, Joyce Zuckerman; two brothers-in-law, Charles Zuckerman and Dwain Heimes.
His survivors include his seven children, Richard Becker and wife Kim of Bonnets Mill, Missouri, Dawn Aiken and husband Kevin of Gerald, Greg Becker and wife Janet of Forristell, Missouri, Eric Becker and wife Jennifer of St. Charles, Missouri, Michael Becker and wife Bonnie of St. Louis, Amy Raaf and husband Rick of St. Louis, and Matthew Becker and wife Belinda of Washington, Missouri; by one brother, Robert Becker and wife Ann of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sisters, Judy Olson and husband Tom of Yankton, South Dakota, Marge Heimes of Wynot, Nebraska, Marsha Marsh and husband Leroy of Parker, South Dakota, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, June 21 at St. Gerald Catholic Church from 4 to 7 p.m., at Gerald.
A Mass of Creation will be celebrated Saturday, June 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Port Hudson at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jim Foster as the celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery at Port Hudson.
