Velma Jean Creek , 90, of Owensville, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at Frene Valley-Stonebridge of Owensville.

She was born on April 20, 1929, to Alton and Tillie (Wiese) Hibler in Owensville.

She was united in marriage to Russell Eugene Creek on Nov. 1, 1947, in Owensville.

Velma Jean was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Owensville where she belonged to the Dorcas and the Quilters. After she retired from Brown Shoe Co. she worked for the Gasconade County Republican for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and especially making apple butter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Tillie Hibler; husband, Russell Creek; sisters, Olene Idel, Helen Hibler and Erma Lay; and brothers, Melvin and Stanwood Hibler.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Creek and wife Rita of Bland and Linda Creek of Jefferson City; brother, Harold Hibler and wife Lucille of Owensville; grandchildren, Ashley Miller and husband Andrew, Lindsey and Matthew Creek; and great-granddaughter, Scarlett Creek Miller.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel with Pastor David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens.
