Robert Frederick Moeller, 89, of Owensville, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on May 19, 1931, to Raymond and Irene (Wehmeyer) Moeller in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Carol Francine Gaertner on July 12, 1952, at Bethany Evangelical Church in St. Louis.They met at a square dance in 1949.

Robert had served his country with the United States Marine Corp.  He attended Beaumont High School graduating one and a half years early and was a standout sprinter on the track team. He attended two years at St. Louis University. He started working at age 11 selling score cards at Sportsman’s Park, was promoted to usher, joined the usher union and worked sporting events year round (college basketball, minor league hockey, college football and demolition derby). A highlight was being the usher in charge of the Boston Red Sox dugout during the 1946 World Series vs. the Cardinals.

After marrying, he had a successful career in sales and marketing. He worked for Simoniz, Southwestern Bell and Allied Paper Co. where he was V.P.

For many years he coached youth baseball and basketball teams for his children. He was a 30 year member and deacon at Independent Congregational Church, where he also established their church softball team. He was an avid golfer with yearly outings with his co-workers and friends to such places as Kentucky Lake and Rend Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Irene Moeller and son, David Moeller.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Moeller of the home; children, Mark Moeller of Owensville, Craig Moeller of St. Louis, Chris Moeller and wife Chia of Madison, Wis., Carla Button and husband Bill of Dardenne Prairie and Robert Moeller Jr. and wife Karyn of Wildwood; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison and Eric Button, Katie and John Moeller, Caroline McCarthy and husband Kyle, Elizabeth and Julia Moeller and Alexander and Isabelle Politowicz.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

Funeral services will be private.

Memorials requested to Gasconade County Historical Society.

Visitation is open to the public but guidelines are asked to be followed. Mask are requested but not required.
