James Willard Willoughby, 101, of Owensville, Mo. passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at his residence.
James was born in Belle on August 26, 1915, to the late Hugh and Bertha (Pointer) Willoughby. On April 15, 1939, he was married to Ogle Barbarick in Jefferson City. She preceded him in death and he then married Lois (White) Hendrix on July 3, 2005, in Owensville. He was a member of Owensville Christian Church, Owensville Masonic Lodge #624, and Owensville Lions Club.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Willoughby; brothers, Leo, Charles and Tommy Willoughby; and sisters, Ruby Lange, Roxie Hengstenberg, Reta Ruffner and Ruth Micciancio.
His survivors include his wife, Lois of the home; sons, Gregory Willoughby and wife, Dolores of Springdale, Ark., Doug Hendrix and wife, Michelle and Barry Hendrix all of Owensville; grandchildren, Heather Wasson and husband, John, Robin Dunivan and husband, Grant, Josh Willoughy and wife, Joy, Cody, Emily, Courtney, Kyla and Keira Hendrix; and great- grandchildren, Blake and Kaitlin Tucker, Ashlyn Benson, Josiah, Shepard and Will Wasson and Caden and Clara Willoughby.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Masonic services and Lions walk through will be at 12:45. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Wehmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens.
