Obituary
Lorene Joan Tappmeyer, 87, of Owensville, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.

She was born on Aug. 7, 1933, to August and Alma (Zinn) Tappmeyer in Owensville.

Lorene was a member of Christ Community Church in Owensville.  She was Valedictorian of her Class of 1951 at OHS and then attended Central Methodist University.  She worked in Columbia at MFA and then worked for the University of Missouri Extension Services in Owensville for 37 years.  She was a devoted sports fan, especially St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Mizzou basketball and football.  She enjoyed playing softball and was an excellent pitcher.  Lorene played the piano and organ at the First Presbyterian Church in Owensville for many years and loved gospel music.  She also loved walking daily in the city park. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Alma Tappmeyer; sister-in-law, Patricia (Patti Jo) Tappmeyer; and nephew, Jonathan Tappmeyer.

She is survived by her brothers, Harlan Tappmeyer of Des Peres and Roger Tappmeyer of Owensville; and niece, Jana Tappmeyer of Kirkwood. She was also dearly loved by cousins and friends. Lorene's kind and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 26 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Shane Jarvis officiating.  Burial will be in Owensville City Cemetery.

Family chooses masks be worn for the visitation and service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Christ Community Church, Owensville, Missouri.
