Obituary Carol Jean Griffith, 86, of Owensville, Mo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Frene Valley - Stonebridge of Owensville.
She was born on June 22, 1934, to Milford H. and Thusnelda (Rulle) Grannemann in Washington.
She was united in marriage to William C. Griffith Jan. 29, 1971, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Owensville.
Carol Jean was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ where she was baptized and confirmed and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Social Sorority where she was past president. She attended Gasconade Co. R-2 Elementary and High School, University of Missouri Columbia 1952-1956 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught school at Hickman Mills in Columbia and Gasconade Co. R-2 in Owensville, directed and sang in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ Choir and was organist for many years, was the owner of Grannemann's IGA Supermarket for many year and also secretary and organist for the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home for 14 years. She and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling and playing golf together for many years. She will be loved and missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Thusnelda Grannemann; husband William Griffith.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Taylor Griffith of Owensville; daughters, Lesli Scharbrough of North Dakota and Wendy Welker and husband Jeremy of St. Louis; grandchildren, Lindsey Heidbrink and husband Corey of Rosebud, Lori Thompson of Owensville, Jacob Scharbrough and wife Jessica of Washington State and Dylan and Jodie Welker of St. Louis; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Stephanie DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Oak Haven Memorial Gardens in Hermann.
