John Lloyd Burke, 63, of Rolla, Mo. passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.
John was born in Gladden on January 31, 1954, to the late William and Lola (Prater) Burke. On November 19, 1983, at First Baptist Church in Rolla he was united in marriage to Christine Crowder. He served his country with the United States Army. He was a police officer for the city of Rolla from 1981-1982; worked for Phelps Country Sheriff Dept. from 1982-1996; was a police officer for the city of St. James from 2008-2016 and was also a Security Guard for the Phelps County Regional Hospital from 2008-2016. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was loved and will be missed by many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John L. Burke II; and six brothers and 16 sisters.
His survivors include his wife, Christine of the home; mother-in-law, LaDonnna Simmons of Rolla; and brother, Marion Burke and wife Patsy of Fulton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20 from 9-11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Dr. Andrews Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in Dinkela Cemetery in Bland with full military honors.
