Nancy Sue Spurgeon, 72, of Cuba, Mo., passed away Fri., April 1, 2022, at her residence in Cuba.

Nancy was born Sept. 14, 1949, to Harry and Anna (Finney) Campbell in Sullivan, Mo.

She was united in marriage to Donald Spurgeon on Jan. 24, 1970, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Nancy and her husband Donald enjoyed farming together and provided custom baling for many years in the community. She loved gardening, canning, and spending time with her family. She also loved to share meals with all those who came to visit her. Nancy graduated from Crawford County R-2 School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Campbell; her husband, Donald Spurgeon; sisters-in-law, Lucille Campbell and Frances Sutter and husband Charlie; brothers-in-law, James “Jim” Spurgeon, Gene Spurgeon, Ervin Hendrickson, and Jack Shafferkoetter.

Her survivors include her children, Tammy Durham and husband Greg of Union, Tina Hunter and husband Ben of Bourbon, and Donnie Spurgeon of Cuba; sisters, Pat Shafferkoetter of Sullivan and Fannie Lea and husband Joe of Cuba; brothers, Dave Campbell and wife Terry of St. James, Mike Campbell and wife Rosemary of Cuba, Gary Campbell of Cuba, and Steve Campbell and wife Christine of Cuba; sisters-in-law, Ruth Hendrickson of Owensville and Betty Spurgeon of Owensville; grandchildren, Abbie Ely and companion Jeff Wagner, Megan West and husband William, Ely Hunter, Mason Hunter, Justin Durham and wife Erika, and Sara Carter; great-grandchildren, Maria and Waylon West and Landyn Hunter; and special dog, Rocky.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Fri., April 8th, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville with Pastor Gary Mace and Josh Brown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thurs., April 7th, at the chapel. Burial will be at Bowen Cemetery in Redbird.
