Obituary
Idabel Brandt, 90, of Rosebud, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.
She was born Dec. 12, 1931, to Shelby and Audra (Parker) Minzes in Hayden.
She was united in marriage to Howard Brandt March 10, 1951, in Kenner Church in Hayden.
Idabel was born on a farm in the Ozark Hills with the love of music. Her parents provided a rich home of family and neighbors who worked hard and knew how to enjoy the simple joys of music, poetry, and dance. She was a lifelong learner and found her way into education as she attended college and was awarded a teaching certificate at 18 years of age. Through teaching, she met the love of her life, Howard Brandt, who shared her love of music and after marriage they created a home in Rosebud for their family. Her love of education carried her through decades of teaching children the joy of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Her intense love of music ensured there would be music by the church choir and Christmas pageant for over 30 years. Retirement allowed her to focus on learning to play multiple instruments, winning several music awards, and creating Idabel’s Old Time String Band. She became a regular performer at local festivals and social events.
Her entire extended family has truly been enriched and inspired by her dedicated years of service and leadership within the community and love of music. We will continue to be blessed by her passion and example.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Audra and an infant brother.
She is is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Howard of their home; children, Cynthia Zemann and husband Paul, Paul Brandt and Walter and Douglas Brandt and wife Cathy all of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren Corrie, Kelly, and Devan; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Charlotte, and Eloise; sister, Arlene Duggan and husband Pat of Nixa; and nieces JoAnn, Patsy, and Shelly.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 17 from 1-5 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel with Pastor John Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Rosebud Methodist Cemetery in Rosebud.
