Edward Raymond Lang, 88, of Owensville, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022. During his last days, he was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 11, 1934, in St. Louis. He was raised by Viola Dalton and Fred Lang.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Daniels on Sept. 5, 1953, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Pine Lawn.

Ed spent his life as a salesman and retired from General Cigar in 1995. They made their home in Pine Lawn until 1964 when they moved to Florissant. After retirement, he and Dorothy moved from their home in Florissant to Peaceful Valley Lake in Owensville. They were founding members of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in Florissant. Once moving to Owensville, they became active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville.

Ed never met a stranger. From his countless friends hanging out at his home on the driveway and his weekly “guys day out,” to the strangers he met, he always had a smile and a fun story to tell. One of his most prized stories was from when he won a Cadillac while working for Dr. Pepper. He and Dorothy sold it and used the money to purchase their first home in Pine Lawn. He will be loved, missed and remembered by many,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Viola; his loving wife, Dorothy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Edythe Daniels; nephew, Rory Perry; and great-granddaughter, Bella Lang.

He is survived by his sons, Daniel Lang and wife Diana of Troy, Kenneth Lang and Susie Dumont of O’Fallon; Richard Lang of O’Fallon; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Emerling of Moscow Mills; brother-in-law, Robert Daniels and wife Carolyn of St. Peters; grandchildren, Angie Ford of Troy, Sandy Grillo and husband Joe of Wentzville, Adam Lang and wife Maggie of Wentzville and Kristen Lang of O’Fallon; great-grandchildren, Brennan Ford and Ashley Alderson, Chase Ford, Nora Grillo, Ryan Grillo, Trenton Reagan and Connor Lang; great, great-grandchildren, Charlie Clinkenbeard and Raelynn Ford; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville with Rev. David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Troy City Cemetery in Troy at 3:00.
