Charles Alfred Claas, 87, of Beaufort, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Frene Valley of Owensville - a Stone Bridge Community.
Charles was born July 31, 1933 , to Carl Alfred and Frieda (Shaw) Claas in Leslie.
He was united in marriage to Fern R. Ruegge on March 11, 1961 at Bay.
He proudly served his country with the United States Army (SCARWARS) branch. He worked at McDonald Douglas as an aircraft mechanic on the flight line for many years and was a member of the Aerospace Machinist Union in St. Louis. He was an avid dirt track racer for many years and in 1962 was Late Model Champion at Highland Speedway in Highland, Ill. He loved Fords, Nascar, and shooting pool with his buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frieda Claas; daughter, Sandra (Claas) Gargus; and brothers, Harold L. Claas and Jerry C. Claas.
His survivors include his wife of sixty years, Fern (Ruegge) Claas of the home; daughter, Sharon Moyer of Boiling Springs, S.C.; sister, Betty McGowan and husband Rich of Bourbon; two granddaughters, Theresa (Gargus) Borgmann and husband Todd of Monett and Kylie Moyer of Boiling Springs, S.C.
